Winterizing Your Pool

Here are some steps to take to winterize your pool and make it ready to easily open in the springtime. These steps are for swimming pools in the south. If you live up north in the Snowbelt then there are a few more steps to take.

• Dial in the Water Chemistry
• You probably need to shock the pool and then add your winter algaecide before installing your cover.
• Take out the ladders, baskets, and any other accessories like solar blankets, hoses and cleaners.
• Give the swimming pool a good final cleaning
• Vacuum your pool
• Give the pool a good skimming
• Brush the sides of the pool if needed
• Decrease the water level in the pool and drain all the pool equipment
• Go ahead and lubricate all the o-rings in your swimming pool’s equipment
• Add some Algaecide to the water in the pool.
• Cover your swimming pool as tightly as possible.
